Narrative Structure
Opening: I HATE MONDAYS (Character is angry)
Climax: Character has partied hard on saturday and is having fun after a long week.
Closed: In pain from partying hard pior and is suffering the consequences.
Cause and effect:
Cause is that she suffered/ struggle throughout the weekday and couldn't wait till the weekend, the weekend came and she went wild and the effect it had was that she cut her hair while she was intoxicated and suffered on Sunday.
Image construction:
The character pretty much stayed in the same place through the manga but I just changed her facial expressions to her current mood and situation. I thought the facial expressions would tell the story better than movement. I also kept my character colour the same throughtout, the only colour i added was her hair and eyes because I thought this would be more interesting; The colour of her hair was yellow and eyes were brown.
Anchorage:
"I HATE MONDAYS" shows that she didn't like Mondays because that would mean that the weekend is over. And it was what she verbally said.
I also added "argh" and "AHHH" to illustrate fustration. But theses where things that thought not said.
Throughout my animation I made sure to include thoughts and speech to my character.
Representation:
About: My character "Mikasa" is a 19 year old female student, she studies history art at university. She's parties on the weekend. She's originally from Tokyo, Japan. But is raised in London, UK. She's the only child in a family of 3 and her star sign is Capricorn. Mikasa is very social but she's also likes to stay at home and do nothing all day but watch anime and eat on her spare time, she's works twice on a week day and goes into her classes three times a week.
I wanted my character to be a teenager because I thought my ideas could relate to a teenage life, as I am my target audience as well.
Production process:
I enjoyed doing my animation because I enjoy drawing in my free time, before my production i held a mild amount of knowledge on Japanese manga but as i researched I learnt more and more. For my graphic narrative I only used pen, pencil and paper to create my manga, used some references as inspiration. Time management was an issue because I spent a lot of time trying to figure out what I wanted to do.
AUDIENCE FEEDBACK:
"I liked Faisa's manga because it was funny because I could relate to the characters feelings and situation" - Luana
I liked my audience feedback because it told me that my work was humourous which I liked because I wanted to make my audience laugh, and I'm also happy that my audience could relate to my character.
